What should I bring for the 2 days Inca Trail

    • Original passport: Your passport is required for entry into Machu Picchu and during the trek. Make sure to carry the original, not a copy.
    • Travel backpack: A comfortable, durable backpack is crucial for carrying your essentials during the trek. It should be lightweight and easy to carry, as you’ll be walking for extended periods.
    • Water bottle (2 liters preferred): Hydration is key during the trek, so bring enough water. A reusable bottle is eco-friendly and practical.
    • Sunscreen: The Andean sun can be intense, so apply sunscreen before the hike and reapply throughout the day.
    • Mosquito Repellent: While the trail is mostly above the mosquito zone, some areas might still have insects, especially during the rainy season, so repellent is a good precaution.
    • Poncho or umbrella for rain: If you’re trekking during the rainy season (November to March), a poncho or small umbrella will help keep you dry when showers occur.
    • Toilet paper: In some parts of the trail, bathroom facilities may not be equipped with toilet paper, so carrying your own is a good idea.
    • Boots or sneakers for walking: Good, sturdy footwear is crucial for the uneven terrain. Opt for waterproof hiking boots or sturdy sneakers to keep your feet comfortable.
    • Waterproof jacket: Even if it’s not rainy season, a waterproof jacket is a smart choice, as weather conditions can change quickly in the mountains.
    • Hat or gloves: Depending on the time of year, it can get chilly, especially early in the morning or at higher altitudes, so a hat or gloves will help keep you warm.
    • Gel alcohol:Keeping your hands clean is important, especially when there are limited bathroom facilities. Carry hand sanitizer or gel alcohol to stay hygienic.

Recommendations for the Inca Trail 2 days

    • Wet Towels: A pack of wet wipes or towels can help you freshen up during the hike, especially if you don’t have access to water along the trail.
    • Snacks: (Chocolates, Cereals, Candies, Fruits, etc.) – Having a variety of snacks will keep your energy up throughout the trek. High-energy foods like nuts, chocolate, or dried fruit are great options.
    • Camera or video recorder: Don’t forget to bring a camera or video recorder to capture the stunning landscapes and memorable moments along the way.
    • Extra money: It’s always a good idea to carry some extra money for tips, souvenirs, or any other unexpected expenses.
    • Portable charger: A portable charger can be a lifesaver, as access to charging stations is limited on the trail. Make sure your devices are charged for photos, maps, and communication.

By preparing these items, you’ll be ready to face the challenges of the trek while enjoying all the beauty and history the Inca Trail has to offer. Let me know if you’d like more tips on anything specific!

Important information about the 2 days Inca Trail

    Important

To hike the Inca Trail, travelers must have a permit from the Ministry of Culture in Peru, which they can obtain through an authorized agency. The permit must match the traveler’s name exactly as it appears on their passport, and without it, entry is not allowed. These permits are limited and non-transferable, so booking the tour well in advance is essential, and travelers must ensure all personal details are accurate to avoid any issues.

    Travel insurance

We highly recommend having travel insurance when trekking the 2 days Inca Trail, as it covers unexpected situations such as medical emergencies, trip cancellations, or lost luggage. The hike presents challenges, including risks like altitude sickness or injury, so having insurance protects you financially and ensures you can receive medical attention if needed. Make sure to choose a policy that covers trekking and activities at high altitudes for full protection.

    Physical requirement for the walk

The physical requirements for the 2 days Inca Trail are moderate and suitable for most travelers. The trek is light to moderate in difficulty, with some uphill and downhill walking, but it’s manageable for those in general good health. It allows travelers to enjoy stunning views and historical sites without the extreme physical demands of longer hikes, making it a great option for those who want to experience the Inca Trail without excessive strain.

Can I store my luggage in your office?

Of course!, You can store your luggage in our office while you’re on the Inca Trail. We recommend bringing only the essentials for the trek to ensure your walk is as comfortable as possible. This way, you can travel light and enjoy the experience without worrying about your belongings. Your larger luggage can be safely stored at our office until you return..

A dream trip with a dream team

I had the most wonderful time in my visit to Cuzco and Machu Picchu with Andean Road. Jim who is a native from Cuzco truly loves and knows his city by heart, he was able to recommend the best places and activities on that dreamlike spot. The trip by train to Machu Picchu town and the Inca citadel was well organized, I didn’t have to worry about the tickets or logistics and just focused on making great memories for life .
