    The 2 Day Rainbow Mountain Trek begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. From there, we drive through the beautiful South Valley, passing traditional Andean villages and scenic mountain views, until we reach the trailhead near the community of Quesiuno or sometimes Ausangate, depending on the route conditions and weather.

    2 days Rainbow Mountain trek Itinerary

    Our tour will begin very early, our team will pick you up from your Hotel at approximately 4:30 am and then we will go to our private bus that will take us to the town of Ollantaytambo, where the train station is located where we will board our train that It will take us on a 2-hour trip to the town of Aguas Calientes.

    Once in Aguas Calientes, our guide will be waiting for us to take us to the bus station, once there we will travel around 30 minutes to reach the “Machu Picchu Sanctuary” also known as “The Lost Citadel of the Incas”.

    After showing the ticket and entering Machu Picchu, our guide will begin the excursion where we will visit the main attractions such as : the guardian's compound, the main square, the circular tower, the sacred sun-dial, the Condors temple and many others. On the excursion we will have free time to take photographs and explore more places on our own time .

    Once the visit to Machu Picchu is over, we will return to the town of Aguas Calientes. After a short break, you’ll have time to relax or explore the area before continuing the journey. Later in the afternoon, we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our staff will be waiting for us. Finally, we’ll continue by private transportation to your hotel in Cusco, ensuring a safe and comfortable end to your trip.

    Your Rainbow Mountain adventure begins with an early pickup from your hotel at 4:00 a.m. As soon as we set off, we’ll embark on a 3-hour journey through the scenic South Valley, heading toward the trailhead in Llacto (4,638 m). Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Inca agricultural terraces, traditional villages, lush valleys, and impressive high Andean peaks. Without a doubt, it’s the perfect start to an unforgettable experience in the Peruvian Andes. In summary, this first stretch offers a wonderful preview of the natural and cultural beauty that awaits you.

    The herds of alpacas and llamas near your breakfast spot will entertain you early in the morning. After enjoying a delicious breakfast, you will return to the van for the final 5-minute drive to the trailhead. From there, we begin our hike following a beautiful stream, with stunning views of Ausangate Mountain and its surrounding glaciers. Along the way, this is a great opportunity to interact with the local population, who still preserve the traditional Quechua culture. For example, you can learn about their traditional clothing and the meaning behind the different hats worn by men. Don’t forget to ask your guide to teach you some Quechua words!

    After walking for approximately 1.5 hours, we finally reached our destination: Rainbow Mountain is about 5,020 meters away. After admiring the unique beauty of this colorful landscape, you will have time to explore the area. You can take pictures or just enjoy the view. After reaching the summit, we'll take approximately 30 minutes to enjoy the views before heading back to the trailhead.

    After completing the trek, we will begin an approximately 3-hour drive back to Cusco. During the journey, you can relax and reflect on the incredible landscapes you’ve experienced. Finally, we’ll drop you off at your hotel in Cusco, arriving around 5:00 p.m.
