Humantay Lagoon itinerary from Cusco
Day 1 Cusco - Humantay Lagoon - Cusco
This spectacular day begins at 4:30 am when your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco. Our tour lasts approximately 3.00 hours to the starting point which is Soraypampa located in the valley of the Apurimac River.
We walk along a path, which little by little gains altitude. After arriving at a small traditional village, we continued for approximately an hour and a half, ascending a steep path. After appreciating the last hill, we will contemplate a turquoise lake, surrounded by steep peaks and an impressive glacier.
During the hike, you will see directly the Salkantay mountain, one of the most sacred mountains in Peru. The equally impressive Humantay Peak, rising 5,917 meters above sea level, is also in view. Shamans, people who follow traditional Andean beliefs, will often give blessings upon reaching the crystal clear waters of Lake Humantay.
Once we reach the lake shore, we will relax, enjoy a snack, or give thanks to Pachamama (Mother Earth). When you are ready to hike again, we will descend to Soraypampa and have a hot lunch while enjoying the stunning panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks. Tired from such a beautiful day, we return to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel around 5 pm

I had the most wonderful time in my visit to Cuzco and Machu Picchu with Andean Road. Jim who is a native from Cuzco truly loves and knows his city by heart, he was able to recommend the best places and activities on that dreamlike spot. The trip by train to Machu Picchu town and the Inca citadel was well organized, I didn’t have to worry about the tickets or logistics and just focused on making great memories for life .
