Sacred Valley of the Incas Itinerary

    Day 1 Cusco – Pisaq – Ollantaytambo – Chinchero – Cusco

We will pick you up from your Hotel lobby at 8:00 am and drive you through the mountains of Cusco to the Sacred Valley. On the way, we will stop at Manos de la Comunidad, a place for interpretation and exhibition of textiles, and we will have a camelids tour where we will be able to appreciate the variety of camelids such as llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, huanacos and others.

Then we head to the Mirador de Taray, a viewpoint with spectacular views of the Sacred Valley, Our next stop will be the Pisaq archeological site, an ancient Inca settlement built on the top of the mountain, where you will see impressive agricultural terraces, tombs, palaces, houses surrounded by huge walls. After exploring, you will drive to the city of Pisaq to visit the handicraft market, very famous because local artisans produce their products and sell them directly to the tourist.

Lunch is 1 hour away on our transport from Pisaq. At a local restaurant in Urubamba, you will have several dishes prepared with fresh local products. After enjoying a delicious lunch, you will head to Ollantaytambo. A beautiful town considered the “Last Living Inca City” with original Inca streets where people are still using. Visit the well-protected Inca fortress, built to protect the Incas from possible invasion, which is also the entrance to Machu Picchu.

The last stop is in Chinchero, a royal enclosure named after the tenth Inca king, Tupac Inca Yupanqui. Explore the Inca construction well, the colonial church built on top of the Inca Palaces, and visit the textile market famous for its handmade textiles and ancient fabrics with natural colors. Return to your Hotel around 6:00 pm.

A dream trip with a dream team

I had the most wonderful time in my visit to Cuzco and Machu Picchu with Andean Road. Jim who is a native from Cuzco truly loves and knows his city by heart, he was able to recommend the best places and activities on that dreamlike spot. The trip by train to Machu Picchu town and the Inca citadel was well organized, I didn’t have to worry about the tickets or logistics and just focused on making great memories for life .
