Recommendations for the Atv tour Maras Moray
- Prepare for altitude: The Atv Tour Maras Moray reaches high altitudes (over 3,200 meters / 13,000 feet), so it’s important to give yourself time to acclimatize before the hike. Spend a few days in Cusco or another high-altitude location to avoid altitude sickness.
- Wear comfortable, layered clothing: The weather can vary throughout the day. Wear moisture-wicking base layers, a warm middle layer, and a waterproof outer layer to protect against wind or rain. Make sure to bring a hat, gloves, and sunscreen as the sun can be intense at high altitudes.
- Stay hydrated and bring snacks: Carry plenty of water (preferably in a reusable bottle) to stay hydrated throughout the hike. You’ll also want to bring high-energy snacks like nuts, trail mix, or energy bars for quick refueling.
- Sun protection: Due to the high altitude, the sun’s rays can be very strong. Bring sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen to protect yourself from sunburn.
- Respect the environment: The Ausangate region is a sacred place for locals. Be sure to follow the Leave No Trace principles by packing out all your trash and respecting local customs and traditions.
- Prepare for the cold: Even though you’ll be hiking during the day, temperatures can drop significantly in the morning and evening. Make sure to bring warm layers, especially for the early morning pickup.
- Know your limits: The hike is considered moderate in difficulty, but it’s important to listen to your body. If you feel any symptoms of altitude sickness, such as dizziness, nausea, or shortness of breath, inform your guide immediately.
- Bring cash: There might be opportunities to purchase souvenirs or local snacks along the way, so it’s a good idea to carry some cash in Peruvian soles.

We were lucky enough to live this adventure in a small group: just the three of us together with Urpi, an extraordinary guide. His knowledge, charisma and the detailed way of explaining each story and data made the tour even more special.

I had the most wonderful time in my visit to Cuzco and Machu Picchu with Andean Road. Jim who is a native from Cuzco truly loves and knows his city by heart, he was able to recommend the best places and activities on that dreamlike spot. The trip by train to Machu Picchu town and the Inca citadel was well organized, I didn’t have to worry about the tickets or logistics and just focused on making great memories for life .
