Itinerary Cusco, Machu Picchu & Rainbow Mountain Tour
Día 1 Cusco – Koricancha – Sacasayhuaman – Qenqo – Puka Pukara – Tambomachay
The city tour can be done in the morning (8:00 am) or in the afternoon (1:00 pm). We begin by picking you up from your hotel and then tour the Imperial City of Cusco. The first place we visit is Koricancha, the ancient Inca Palace and the main center for the worship of the Sun God, Inti. Our tour continues to the archaeological site of the Sacsayhuaman fortress.
According to some archaeologists, the construction of the Sacsayhuaman fortress is a testament to how the stones were transported to the site. Afterward, we will explore the archaeological sites of Q'enqo, Puka Pukara, Tambomachay, and finally, the Manos de la Comunidad textile center.
Day 2 Pisac – Moray – Maras - Salineras – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel to begin the Sacred Valley of the Incas tour. The first place to visit is the Pisac archaeological site, followed by a guided tour and a visit to the market in the town of Pisac.
Lunch will be served buffet-style at one of the restaurants offering the best presentations of typical Andean-style dishes from the province of Urubamba, near the city of Cusco.
After lunch, we will visit a chicha (fermented corn beverage) factory, Moray (sacred terraces), the salt mines, and finally Ollantaytambo, a town that has maintained its splendor since Inca times. At the end of the Sacred Valley tour, the guide will drop you off at the Ollantaytambo train station to board the 7:00 PM train to Aguas Calientes. There, your Machu Picchu guide will pick you up and take you back to your hotel.
Day 3 Aguas calientes – Machu Picchu - Cusco
Prepare for one of the most wonderful moments of your life: you will discover Machu Picchu, where the sun's rays will illuminate the entire trail, allowing you to fully appreciate its beauty.
Our guide will accompany you on a 2- to 2.5-hour tour, visiting the most important sites of Machu Picchu. We will also have the opportunity to admire Huayna Picchu Mountain (with prior reservation). After the guided tour, our guide will say goodbye to the group, and you will be free to explore Machu Picchu on your own, keeping in mind the departure time of our return train.
Afterward, we will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will board the train to Ollantaytambo. There, our private transportation will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
Day 4 Cusco – Mollepata - Laguna Humantay - Cusco
This spectacular tour begins at 4:30 am when your guide picks you up from your hotel in Cusco. Our trek lasts approximately 3 hours to the starting point, Soraypampa, located in the Apurimac River Valley.
We hike along a trail that gradually gains altitude. After reaching a small, traditional village, we continue for about an hour and a half, ascending a steep path. After cresting the last hill, we'll behold a turquoise lake surrounded by craggy peaks and an impressive glacier.
During the hike, you'll have a direct view of Salkantay Mountain, one of Peru's most sacred mountains. The equally impressive Humantay Peak, which rises to 5,917 meters above sea level, is also visible. Shamans, people who follow traditional Andean beliefs, often offer blessings upon reaching the crystal-clear waters of Humantay Lake. Once we reach the lake shore, we'll relax, enjoy a snack, or give thanks to Pachamama (Mother Earth). When you're ready to resume our hike, we'll descend to Soraypampa for lunch while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks. Tired after such a beautiful day, we'll return to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel around 5 p.m.
Day 5 Cusco – Cusipata – Llacto – Cerro Arcoiris – Llacto – Cusco
Your incredible Rainbow Mountain adventure begins with a 4:00 a.m. pickup from your hotel. We start our 3-hour drive through the South Valley to the trailhead in Llacto, located at 4,638 meters above sea level. Along the way, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of Inca agricultural terraces, traditional villages, valleys, and towering Andean peaks. Herds of alpacas and llamas near your breakfast spot will entertain you early in the morning. Enjoy a delicious and hearty breakfast, then return to the van for the final 5-minute drive to the trailhead. We begin our hike following a beautiful stream, with views of Cerro Ausangate and glaciers. This is a great opportunity to interact with the local people, who still keep traditional Quechua culture alive. Learn about their traditional clothing and the meaning behind the different hats worn by the men.
After hiking for approximately 1.5 hours, we finally reached our destination, Rainbow Mountain, at about 5,020 meters above sea level. After admiring the unique beauty of this colorful landscape, you'll have time to explore the area. You can take photos or simply enjoy the view. We'll spend approximately 30 minutes at the summit. Finally, we'll hike back to the trailhead.
We'll then embark on an approximately 3-hour drive back to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel, arriving around 5:00 p.m.
Day 6 Departure from Cusco
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy your remaining time in Cusco city then in the afternoon, we will drop off at the airport to take your plane back to Lima.

I loved the excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It was an amazing and unique experience. Our guide, he was outstanding. He was always attentive to every detail, passionately explaining the history and culture of the place...

We were lucky enough to live this adventure in a small group: just the three of us together with Urpi, an extraordinary guide. His knowledge, charisma and the detailed way of explaining each story and data made the tour even more special.

I had the most wonderful time in my visit to Cuzco and Machu Picchu with Andean Road. Jim who is a native from Cuzco truly loves and knows his city by heart, he was able to recommend the best places and activities on that dreamlike spot. The trip by train to Machu Picchu town and the Inca citadel was well organized, I didn’t have to worry about the tickets or logistics and just focused on making great memories for life .
Family
It is a very serious and responsible agency fulfilled everything offered all very cordial one feels comfortable when they treat it as family, no doubt when I return to them.
