Activity 1 Camelid Tour in Cusco
Guanaco
The guanaco is a species of mammal since it is part of the camelids family of South America. It is a wild animal, unlike the llama, which is domestic. It has fine bones with an approximate height of 1.60 meters and weighs about 90 kilograms of weight. Its name comes from Quechua (wanaku), since it is one of the few mammals that can drink salt water.
Llamas
It was domesticated by the Andean peoples, Natives through artificial selection from the Guanaco. According to recent studies, this occurred in principle independently in time and space in sectors of northern Argentina, western Bolivia, northern Chile and southern Peru. This mammal was used to the maximum by the Inca empire since they used it as a pack animal and in turn obtained meat from it and its wool was used to make their clothing.
Alpacas
Alpacas have a more curved and smaller silhouette unlike the llama. They also have a classic tuft of fiber that can be differentiated by color since they have many shades and can reach a height of 1.50 meters. And their average weight is 64 kilograms
Vicunas
The Vicuña or also known as Llama (vicugna) its genus name is one of the wild South American camelids, which live in the high alpine areas of the former. Vicuñas are relatives of the llama and are now believed to be the wild ancestor of domesticated alpacas, which are bred for their fur as they produce small amounts of extremely fine wool which makes it very expensive because the animal alone It can be sheared every three years.
Activity 2 Bathing and cleaning with Medicinal Plants
The ceremony of cleaning and bathing with flowers is part of the healing process. This energy comes from the communication our shaman maintains with the main apus, represented by sacred mountains. They invoke the energy to heal, both physically and spiritually.
Our shaman will do a deep cleaning with traditional herbs such as rue, rosemary and broom, these 3 plants will help us expel negative energies, finally we will make an Andean offering in order to improve our lives and ask that everything goes well for us.
